IT’S CHRISTMAS EVE! This year we will be spending christmas on the island of Koh Samui, Thailand. The thing is, I absolutely LOVE Christmas! That magical time of year where everywhere is lit up, it’s cold and frosty outside so you all gather around the fireplace that’s decked out with mini Santa’s, lights and that candle thing your mum always puts up. The Christmas songs, advent calendars, christmas tree and of course the food! Can’t forget about the festive fashion – christmas jumpers and glitsy clothes! Eekkk, the thought of it gets me excited.
Seen as we won’t be doing any of that during the actual Christmas period I decided to try get it all done before we left for Thailand, I tried hard to get Scrooge (Snape) in the festive spirit too.
Attending a christmas market is a must. I don’t know if I only get excited about these because of the amount of food I know I’m going to consume or if it’s just because it states ‘Christmas Market’. I mean I’m never excited about Colwyn Bay or any other market. This year we went to Liverpool Christmas Market on a Thursday evening so it was nice and quiet! We over indulged in food – Yorkshire pudding wrap, pulled pork bap, Nutella waffles, Chocolate orange hot chocolate, Nutella hot chocolate. It was all so sweet but we went home with massive food babies. A European Christmas market is on the list for next year!
The classic, getting the decks up with christmas songs blasting in the background, obviously dressed in your Christmas jumper or Christmas PJs. As soon as the tree is up its officially Christmas in our house! Then follows the typical tat, ornamental Santa’s and snowmen lined along the fireplace, the christmas lights lining the conservatory windows and the festive wreath on the front door, possibly the odd bit of tacky tinsel.
Them cosy nights in watching christmas films, once again in Christmas Pjs (Can you tell I love pjs?) I always start with my all time favourite, the grinch. I also make Snape put his grinch lounge pants on and I put my grinch PJs on. I don’t know if its cute or cringy, I’ll go with cringy but I love it! Home alone 1 2 & 3, Bad Santa, Elf, Christmas with the Kranks, and so many more! Not to mention all the animation films they play at Christmas! Stuart little is always on around Christmas!!
The family get togethers. This is what Christmas is all about, getting the family around and having a good time! Which usually involves a lot of alcohol and food – the correct way to spend Christmas 😉 Not to mention seeing the little ones faces light up when they open their presents – that is the best. But seriously as you get older you realise it’s not what you receive as a gift but it’s the people you spend the time with.
It’s the one time of the year that all your colleagues get together for a piss up, you then have to hang your head in shame because you’ve gone a little too far and got smashed and probably ended up offending someone. But no worries, it’ll just be works gossip for like 3 days then it’s forgotten.
Christmas nights out with the girls which usually includes as much glitter as possible. You all get extremely merry, dance the night away, have a laugh, then go home freezing because your dress is a little short and its like -1°c outside. But there is no way any of your coats match your glitsy dress unless it’s a big fluffy fake fur thing so you just suffer to look good. Notice I said fake – No animal cruelty here. ✋
The local community events where the whole town comes together to pump the Christmas spirit into the air. They put on a panto, a christmas parade, lanterns, fireworks for all the community to enjoy together.
Everything about Christmas excites me! And I’m a little sad that we wont be spending it with our families but I have no complaints about spending it together on the beach. I will miss that big Christmas dinner that my mum cooks up! I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas filled with laugher, love and alcohol. ❤
MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE 🎅🎄🎁
