I have never taken the opportunity to even look at any of the welsh mountains until this year, guess I’ve become a little more ‘outdoorsy’. So this summer I hiked my first full mountain! I say full because I got half way up Snowdon a few years back but me and the group of friends I was with were not prepared to walk up Snowdon, to be honest we looked like we were going for a stroll around the park with how we were dressed!
So last summer I really wanted to get up a mountain, I have friends who rave about hiking mountains all the time so I wanted to give it a go. We climbed up Moel Siabod which is roughly 4 miles away from the popular village of Betws Y Coed, along the A5 towards the Ogwen valley. We didn’t follow the usual route, instead we decided to go around the back of the mountain where we ended up getting a tad bit lost, climbing over crags and blouders which had high drops on either side – But yeeeeea it was all fun!
We made it up for sunset!
